A Japanese series featuring URUSHI and lacquer from various regions.
Sanuki Urushi Sinra, a studio that carries on the traditional lacquerware techniques of Sanuki dating back to the Edo period, creates innovative lacquerware that fits seamlessly into modern life.
This piece is finished using the “Suki-urushi Hakeme-nokoshi” technique, in which layers of translucent lacquer are carefully applied. The process involves repeating the cycle of lacquering and polishing five to six times, and is completed with a final matte polishing and topcoat to achieve a subdued, elegant finish.
The result is a matte texture rarely seen in metal sakeware—a truly one-of-a-kind piece that showcases the exceptional skill of the lacquer artisan.
Enjoy the subtle interplay of red lacquer tones that emerge through the calm, matte surface, along with its smooth, refined texture.
Perfect for those who appreciate understated beauty and a cool, sophisticated aesthetic.
