Maintenance

Care of your sake cup

Care instructions

  • After use, wash by hand with a soft sponge and mild detergent to remove any dirt as soon as possible.
  • Do not use paint thinner, benzine, chlorine bleach, cleansers containing abrasives, metal scrubbing pads, hard sponges, etc. The surface coating may peel off or become scratched.
  • After washing, wipe off any moisture thoroughly with a dry, soft cloth and allow to dry completely before storing in a low humidity place.

About lacquer

  • If the smell of lacquerware bothers you, rinse it in lukewarm water and leave it in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight with the spout facing up as shown in the image for a few to 10 days. The smell will gradually fade.
  • Due to the nature of lacquer, the color gradually fades over time, allowing the base pattern to become visible.
  • Please avoid soaking it in water for a long time. After use, wash it as soon as possible, wipe off the water with a soft cloth, and then wipe it with a dry cloth to extend its life.

Points to note

  • Do not put hot liquids in the container. Aluminum has high thermal conductivity, so putting hot liquids in the container may cause burns.
  • This product is made of soft aluminum metal. It will not break, but if you drop it while using it or cleaning it, it may cause injury, deformation, or damage. Please be careful not to drop it.
  • Do not use or store the product near fire or heat sources as it may cause burns, damage or discoloration.
  • Please do not use dishwashers, dish dryers, over open flames, microwaves or ovens as they may cause scratches, breakage, discoloration or injury.
  • The CLEAR series is coated with urethane paint. If you experience an allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately.
  • Copper may oxidize and change color over time. This will not affect use, but if you are concerned about this, please contact OHYA.

Handling of lacquerware products

  • Please be careful when storing or using the product with other tableware, avoid hitting it with edges, scratching it with nails, rubbing it hard, or dropping it, as this may cause it to peel off.
  • Do not store in the freezer or in direct sunlight or in a car or other high temperature location as this may cause discoloration.
  • In very rare cases, you may experience a rash from the paint depending on your constitution or physical condition. If you experience any abnormalities, discontinue use and consult a medical specialist.
